Haul – ColourPop (February 2019)

Let’s check out my ColourPop haul from February 2019. This encompasses a couple orders, including ColourPop’s new colorful mascaras.

Eyeshadows

I couldn’t find a great palette with green shadows so I did a “Build Your Own Palette” from ColourPop. I also ordered a couple Super Shock Shadows (Paradox, Liberty and Cusp). The single shadow colors included: Hear Me Out, Get Out, Cute Alert, Pinky Promise, Slay-Farer, Superzoom, Formation, Tiny Tangerines, Sideline, Team Captain, Conjour Up and Wishful Winking. This custom palette has worked out well for me and I love the shadow formula.

Mascaras

I love love colorful mascaras. I have the purple mascara from Nyx as well as a burgundy mascara from a drugstore brand. So, I was excited to see the wide range of colors that ColourPop released. I bought red (Left on Red), purple (Purple Prose) and black (Black on Black).

Lux Lipsticks

The lux cream lipsticks from ColourPop are one of my favorite formulas. They stay on my and don’t feel drying. I love wearing these for work because I don’t have to worry about re-applying. While my local Ulta has a few colors, they were limited and I wanted to round out my collection. From left to right the colors are:

What’s Your Sign

Liquid Courage

21 Questions

Angel City

Y2K

Lippie Sticks

While I know I love the lux cream lipsticks, I’ve been interested in trying ColourPop’s highly regarded lippie sticks. So I ordered a set of them to try out. From left to right the colors are (after the clear lippie primer):
Sky Walking

Love Life

Trust Me

Bichette

Goldie

Chateau

Haul – BH Cosmetics Royal Affair (February 2019)

Week before last I was surfing a makeup Facebook group I belong to and someone mentioned that Kohl’s had certain items related to BH Cosmetics Royal Affair line on deep deep deep DEEP discount. The 20 pan eyeshadow palette was $3.60 and the 10 piece brush set was $5. What a steal! I did buy an extra palette for my mom. I had actually looked at this palette before at Ulta but thought $18 was a bit much for the three shades I really wanted (the green ones).

Haul – Happy Birthday & Valentine’s Day to Me (February 2019)

This is a mini-haul item wise but I’m so excited by the products I had to share. I bought these items as gifts to myself for my birthday (aside from the two Sephora makeovers) and Valentine’s Day. I figure when you’re single you’re not buying for a significant other so you can legitimately buy something for yourself. I bought the eyeshadow palette at Ulta and ordered the Hourglass compacts from Sephora online. I got the lipstick using some Beauty Insider points at Sephora.

Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

It’s a thing – I generally buy myself either an eyeshadow palette or yarn for my birthday. This year – eyeshadow palette. Usually if I buy a nice palette I go for a Too Faced palette but the new Pretty Rich palette isn’t really calling my name. Also, I have a lot of neutral palettes so I wanted to buy one with more variety in shades. The greens in this palette are especially beautiful!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure

The makeup artist at the Sephora in Chicago used this but I held off buying due to the price ($38 is a lot for a blush!). After looking at a lot of the brands I normally shop for blushes, I couldn’t find a similar plum colored blush. It truly is a unique shade and I already love it.

Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light

While this wasn’t used in either of my makeovers this year, it was used in my mom’s Sephora makeover (and she bought one). I have very few bronzers (two from Too Faced and a Physician’s Formula one that looks horrible on me) and nothing this tonal so into my cart it went! Radiant Bronze Light is a warm bronze shade fused with Radiant Light to mimic a summer glow.

Haul – Sephora Makeover (February 2019)

Last weekend my parents came to visit from Missouri for my banner year birthday and I took my mom into the city to get a makeover at Sephora (her very first!). I also got another makeover but I wasn’t nearly as impressed as I was with the makeup artist in Chicago. That said, I did find some new products, bought a replacement for an empty and acquired a few samples for products I want to try. So let’s get going!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

I’ve been looking for a good radiant/natural foundation that still had has decent coverage. My mom loved this foundation on me so I did purchase this. My only annoyance is the product doesn’t come with a pump – you have to buy it separate (which I didn’t know until I got home). So, online order to buy the pump. At this price point though, I’d have thought the pump would have been included. I’ve worn this a couple days since last weekend and it applies easily and looks great! The shade is Mont Blanc.

Clinique ID Oil-Control Gel + Uneven Skin Texture

I’ve been seeing this new product (well, combination of products) from Clinique. It allows you to choose one of three bases (a jelly moisturizer, dramatically different gel or dramatically different oil-control gel) and one of five active concentrates (uneven skin texture, uneven skin tone, irritation, fatigue and lines and wrinkles) for a customized combination. I chose the oil-control gel because on my the regular gel was tacky on me and didn’t dry down. I chose uneven skin tone because, um, crater sized pores. I also consideration the irritation cartridge.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick

Now I know what you’re thinking – how can you possibly need more lipstick? To be fair I did not have a cream lipstick in this sort of peachy-nude and this color looks amazing with dark green smoky eyes. Oh, and it’s a good color for work. The color is Kiss.

Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel

This was to replace an empty product I used up. I like this gel because because it’s not nearly as drying as most salicylic acid product. However, I do sometimes have to use a stronger product if I have a stubborn zit.

Drunk Elephant Beauty Insider Birthday Gift

I’ve been hemming and hawing about what to grab from the Sephora Beauty Insider birthday choices. I had considered the points but I already had so many. Instead, I went with the sample size products from Drunk Elephant. I like this brand but I don’t foresee it being a brand I use long-term.

Haul – Sephora Makeover (January 2019)

Last weekend I went to visit a friend in Chicago and went to Sephora Saturday morning for a makeover. The big purpose was to find a foundation and conceal that work with my skin. The makeup artist was awesome and I am so thankful she took the time to explain why she selected the products to did and how she was applying them. I will provide a picture of me post-makeover and a full list of the products used at the bottom of this post. I purchased several items relating to the foundation/concealer goal and picked up some freebie perfume samples (and another Urban Decay cherry setting spray).

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation

I’m so glad the makeup artist used this foundation. I had told her I loved this foundation (based on a sample I had) but that the color of the sample I had was wrong for my undertone. My experience has been that the amazonian clay products from Tarte really do last the whole day and I feel like this is an under-rated foundation. The shade is 16B Fair-Light Beige.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer

This is not a concealer I’ve used before or even heard discussed much but I was happy with the coverage it provided in the makeover. It also did stick around all day despite the cold making my eyes water and the snow. This is in the shade 2C.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

So powder wasn’t an item I necessarily set out to buy after the makeover but I didn’t have any nice pressed powder and had heard great things about this product. It gave a nice finish that didn’t white me out or look cake-y on top of the foundation. The color is Dim Light.

OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Creme

Also not a product I intended to buy that day but it made the very dark circles around me eyes appear nonexistent. It doesn’t matter how much sleep I get, the inside corners of my eyes and right under are genetically programmed to be dark. You only need a teeny tiny amount of this product so the jar should last me a long time.

Urban Decay Cherry Setting Spray

Now apparently I am one of the few who LIKE the scent of this. I’ve heard several people describe it as cough medicine scented but I really love it. So, as it’s been on sale for $10.50 (normally $15) the last couple weeks at Sephora and Ulta, I’ve been snagging what I could.

Freebies – Perfume Samples

I almost always get perfume samples when I go to Sephora and this was no exception. After much sniffing I got samples of: Stella McCartney’s Stella, Atelier Cologne Bergamot Soleil and YSL’s Black Opium. What scents do you think I should try next time? I usually like fresh scents but sometimes fruity or the woody/spicy.

Haul – Sephora and Ulta Mini (January 2019)

This is a mini-haul item wise but I’m so excited by the products I had to share. Even though I know I have a big Sephora adventure next weekend (makeover included) I was already at Ulta to get my brows waxed back into shape. And Ulta happens to be right next door to Sephora.

Benefit Gimme Brow Eyebrow Gel ($24 at Sephora and Ulta)

I’ve looked at this product before but never brought one home because I incorrectly assumed there wasn’t an auburn shade. While getting my brows waxed, I asked about a fast and easy product for my decently thick eyebrows. She recommended this brow gel in color 3.5, which is a warm auburn brown and matches my hair well. A few quick swipes and my brows are done.

Benefit Porefessional Primer ($13 at Sephora for the mini size)

I have been using the pore minimizing primer from NYX on a day-to-day basis but I use this primer from Benefit when I want to look extra nice. So I picked up a trial size, which should get me through for a while.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette ($49 at Sephora and Ulta)

I have been eyeing this palette since its release because I love red shades. I finally bit the bullet because I’ve never caught it on sale. My two favorite shades are Develish and Young Love and all the shades are super creamy. I looked around at the Huda Beauty red palette, some singles available from Anastasia Beverly Hills and some other random singles but this palette had the shades I would use the most for the best cost. It just didn’t make sense to build a four shade palette for $32 when I would get all of these shades for $49. This is a spendy palette for me but I do expect to get a lot of use out of it. I had hoped to also be able to pick up the Naked Cherry setting spray from Urban Decay but apparently it is sold out in store and online :(.

Haul – ColourPop (January 2019)

Colourpop gets an A for packaging, even before you unwrap all the goodies. I had visited the website in the past to buy some of the Disney collection but some of the specific items I wanted were out of stock. I’m glad I circled back because they had all of the collection back in stock. I also picked up some of the lip products I can’t buy at my local Ulta.

Disney Collection

From the Disney Collection I bought the eyeshadow palette and four of the lux lipsticks – Snow White, Belle, Ariel and Tiana. I considered buying Jasmine (because she was one of my favorite princesses) but the color wasn’t something I expected to actually wear.

The variety of eyeshadow colors is unique – there doesn’t seem to be a common theme other than the fairytale names of the colors. However, I look forward to trying to build looks with just these colors. My favorite two are the dark blue in the lower right and the icy blue above it.

ColourPop did a nice job of providing a variety of colors in the Princess line. There are also more pink colors available for Cinderella and Jasmine. The lux lipstick is a very smooth cream that feels hydrating on your lips. The bullet tubes for these are gorgeous – gold with the signatures of the princesses on the exterior of the tubes.

The swatches, from left to right, are Snow White, Belle, Ariel and Tiana. I plan to save Ariel, and maybe even Belle, for work.

More ColourPop Lipsticks

My local Ulta has some ColourPop lip products but the colors are limited and the store doesn’t carry any Ultra Satin lip products. So, while making the Disney order I elected to to grab some lipsticks to try out. From top to bottom the colors and type are:

Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park

Ultra Matte Lip in Avenue

Ultra Satin Lip in Wig

Lippie Pencil in Dukes Pencil

And swatched in the same order top to bottom:

Haul – Sephora Online (January 2019)

This whole purchase started with finding out Sephora had another lip themed favorites collection. I love the Sephora Favorites lip collections because you get a great value. With the purchase of that and the travel size Clinque, I was able to snag as my promo a nighttime skincare kit.

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip

These sets are such a great value. In this $28 set (which I grabbed while on sale for $19) you get two full size lipsticks and three samples, all in nude shades. The Huda Beauty Lipstick paid for the set by itself. The lip collections are different sizes (different numbers of lipsticks at different prices). I haven’t tried these lipsticks yet but will swatch and review once I’ve had a day or two to wear each. I do have the Huda Beauty Lipstick in another nude color and it wears well but feels drying. Usually after several hours I slap a gloss over it.

Included:

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte in Trendsetter (full size)

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Carmello (full size)

Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly (mini)

Make Up Forever Artist Liquid Matte in 105 (mini)

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick in Beach Babe (mini)

Clinique Dramatically Difference Moisturizing Gel

Normally this formula is too greasy for my skin (face in particular) but I like keeping a travel size handy for when I fly. I find flying, especially during the winter, to be very dry and this product is a great emergency treatment for that.

Nighttime Skincare Set

This was the freebie set I selected for hitting a certain spending level on this purchase. While these are all small samples, I appreciate the ability to try all of these products. I do already own the Laneige lip mask but this sample size will be nice for an overnight trip. Also, in the center of the photo, are supplements that contain melatonin, which I can’t have. So, those will be saved for a friend. Aside from the Origins and Murad samples I haven’t tried the other brands and these samples will provide a great opportunity to do so.
